Sir David Attenborough will narrate an awe-inspiring new immersive experience at the Natural History Museum in London, titled Our Story. The 50-minute 360° immersive spectacular will open on 19 June 2025 and tickets are already available.

Our Story with David Attenborough is a first-of-its-kind offering for the museum, and will see the master storyteller document the history of the human species.

He'll draw on nearly a century of his own experience (which is mind-blowing in itself) to chart humanity's earliest beginnings, right up to how we evolved and how we came to change the world around us.

Announcing the project, Sir David — who celebrated his 99th birthday in May 2025 — said his hope is that "visitors of all ages will experience our extraordinary journey...and come away feeling inspired, informed and most of all, empowered about their integral role in our world."

He also emphasised the importance of this story, saying that the Earth's "future is in our hands."

Director of the Natural History Museum Dr Doug Gurr said "Our mission has always been to create advocates for the planet" and that he was honoured that the much-loved naturalist has partnered with them. He added it will be a "captivating exploration into humanity’s past and future.”

While Sir David has branched out into programmes for the streamers in recent years, such as the new Disney+ feature documentary, Ocean with David Attenborough, he is most well known for his six decades working for the BBC. Another figure who has swapped the BBC for the Natural History Museum is Lord Hall who was appointed as the museum's Chair in 2024.

What to expect inside the experience

Our Story has been produced in collaboration with award-winning production team Open Planet Studios, so you should expect to experience a combination of stunning projections, real-world footage and full 360° immersion. Open Planet Co-Founder and Director Jonnie Hughes promises visitors will be surrounded by "wonderful imagery, music and sound."

The narrative itself begins at the very start of planet Earth over 4 billion years ago, where visitors will witness the compelling and captivating tale of humankind’s story like never before, as Sir David documents our evolution in fascinating detail.

This will include everything from human impact on the great whales of the oceans to our relationship with one of our closest relatives, the gorillas. Sir David will reflect on the good and the bad he has witnessed throughout his long career and he'll share both his hopes for our planet and his belief that we can solve anything we put our minds to.

NHM Attenborough exhibition tickets

Tickets to this Natural History Museum immersive experience are slightly more complicated than most exhibitions at the venue, as there are peak, standard and off-peak tickets.

Our Story Peak tickets

These are the most expensive and they apply to the 10.00 11.00, 12.00 and 13.00 shows on weekends, school holidays and bank holidays. Adults (17+) will pay £25 at these times. Children aged 4 to 6 will pay £12.50. Children under 4 go free.

Our Story Standard tickets

On the same days as the above, the afternoon screenings are slightly cheaper. So the 14.00, 15.00, 16.00 and 17.00 shows on weekends, school holidays and bank holidays will see adults (17+) pay £22.50, with children aged 4 to 16 paying £11.25. Children under 4 go free still.

Our Story Off-peak tickets

All shows on Mondays to Fridays (excluding school holidays and bank holidays) are the cheapest available tickets to the David Attenborough experience. Adults (17+) will pay £20 at these times. Children aged 4 to 16 will pay £10. Children under 4 go free still.

If you’re a Natural History Museum member and used to getting in free to temporary exhibitions, I'm afraid for this one you’ll have to stump up some cash. Members just get a 50% discount on the adult tickets. So for members it will still be more expensive in peak times.

All tickets are available now on the Natural History Museum’s official website, and currently can be booked up until January 2026.

More things to do at the Natural History Museum in 2025

This will be one of the Natural History Museum's most important events of 2025. But the museum in London's South Kensington is having a bit of a blockbuster year.

They've just opened its first new permanent gallery in almost a decade. The Fixing Our Broken Planet Gallery explores practical, nature-based solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the planet today, such as how to stop future extinctions.

Meanwhile for the first time in its 144-year history the museum has dedicated a blockbuster temporary exhibition to the wonders of the universe, with the very intriguing title of Space: Could Life Exist Beyond Earth?

Our Story with David Attenborough opens at the Natural History Museum in London on 19 June 2025 and runs until January 2026.
