Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery in West London has announced a major new exhibition by British Pop artist Sir Peter Blake.

Peter Blake: In the Studio will run from 25 November 2026 until 04 April 2027, and will feature paintings, sculpture, collages, and works on paper by the celebrated 93-year-old artist.

But the highlight will undoubtedly be the recreation of Blake’s artist studio in Pitzhanger’s light-filled gallery.

Dubbed an “immersive recreation” in a statement, bosses say the installation “will allow visitors to step into the world of the artist’s imagination, and a physical space depicting not only his working environment over many years, but one which is also home to his extraordinary collection of curiosities, memorabilia and artifacts that have inspired him throughout.”

The recreation will provide a rare and intimate insight into Blake's working life, alongside an array of artworks that showcase the full breadth of his artistic output.

Peter Blake’s real studio is located close to Pitzhanger in West London. The gallery is in Ealing and the studio is in nearby Hammersmith. Blake has lived in neighbouring Chiswick since 1979.

The relationship to the local area will also be a focus of the exhibition. Ealing’s rich cultural heritage is reflected in Blake’s own interests in music and film, from The Ealing Club where the Rolling Stones and The Who played their earliest gigs, to the worldwide legacy of Ealing Studios. The artist’s own role as a collector and “superfan” will also be explored.

Blake burst onto the art scene in the early 60s, exhibiting alongside David Hockney and appearing in Ken Russell’s BBC programme Pop Goes the Easel which brought British pop art to a wider audience.

Living and working in London during the “Swinging Sixties”, Blake and his wife at the time, Jann Howarth, created one of the most iconic images of the 20th century with the album art for 1967’s Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Rebecca Lyons, Director of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, said it was “an honour and a privilege” to be hosting an exhibition on “such a legend in British art.”

She said that Blake’s “works are a celebration of art making and artistic inspiration, and the show itself [is] a tribute to one of the most iconic artists in Britain today.”

Tickets to the exhibition are included in general admission to the gallery, and booking for November and beyond will be released later this year.

Peter Blake will become the latest living British artist to enjoy a solo exhibition, following big names such as Anish Kapoor, Es Devlin, Idris Khan and Grayson Perry, who brought tapestries at Pitzhanger in 2023.
